Salusio di Arborea

Guglielmo I (1160-1214), ruled as Giudice (King) of Cagliari under the name of Salusio IV from 1188 until his death in 1214. He is considered one the most remarkable Sardinia Giudice (King) of the Middle Age. He was a valorous soldier and helped his father to conquer Cagliari. He kept close ties with the papacy and escorted Cagliari's Archibishop in the Third Crusade; he is also remembered for promoting culture. He was the son of Giorgia, daughter of Costantino II of Cagliari, and Oberto, Margravio (Lord) of Massa . In 1207 he married the tuscan countess Guisana. He died in 1214 and was succeeded by his daughter Benedetta and her husband Barisone, who became the Giudice Torchitorio IV.
